Mortgage holiday or remortgage?
I have the details of a second mortgage as i need to bring to the fore 7k for home improvements. Is it better to just take a 7 month hol or use the remortgage? What are the penalty etc.....

If you have the equity within your house then you might as well use it next to a remorgage, if you take a 7 month holiday you will still have to discharge the money back at the end next to INTEREST. Source(s): Looked at doing the same.
It depends on the details of your mortgage. Check the paperwork and see if there is any financial penalty for taking a holiday. Obviously if you bring a break from your mortgage the interest will remain at the same level for those seven months whereas if you verbs to pay the existing mortgage off the interest will verbs to decrease.
It might work out cheaper to take out a personal loan for 7k to some extent than add it to your mortgage.
